How to read Stanley Cup odds
Prediction markets price the Stanley Cup like a share that pays $1 if the team wins. A price of 12¢ is a 12% chance in the market’s view. Right now Colorado are the favourites, priced at about a 13% chance across the venues.
Why do prices differ by venue?
Each venue has its own traders and fees, so the same team can trade a cent or two apart. The table shows the price to buy Yes after fees at each venue, and the best one. How markets work explains the details.
How often does the favourite win?
The best team rarely starts a season with more than a one-in-five chance, because four best-of-seven rounds leave plenty of room for upsets. Comparing the price with a model helps: market vs model sets each team’s price against our season simulation.
